Modes

A Mode is the stable thing you call while the engines underneath change. How to pick one, and how Standard and Einstein differ.

A Mode is a saved configuration of how Quorum answers: who sits in the seats, how hard they argue, and what a call costs. You call a Mode by name. The engines underneath can change, and the Mode stays the thing you chose.

Every answer runs inside a Mode, such as Standard Mode · QRUM:STAN.

What a Mode sets

PartDecides
SeatsWhich engines answer, and who backs each one up
DeliberationWhether seats critique each other never, always, or only on harder questions, and how many rounds
StaffWhich engines judge, synthesise and score difficulty
PriceThe Mode's fee, per 1M tokens processed, by tier

A Mode configures the panel and your prompt carries the question. An API-key call has a cost ceiling: the higher of $2.00 and the price of the Mode being called, unless the API key carries its own ceiling. A request can lower it with quorum.max_cost_usd. See Pricing.

Names

A Mode has a display name and a ticker in the form COMPANY:MODE, for example Standard Mode · QRUM:STAN. The ticker is the identifier. Pass it as model over the API or MCP, and read it on receipts and in lists. The web app and the docs show the name with the ticker, and the API and receipts show the ticker.

list_modes returns the Modes your key can call, with price and quorum.use_when, the maker's sentence on the situations each Mode is for.

Picking a Mode

  1. Start with Standard Mode · QRUM:STAN.
  2. Read the Mode's card. The card lists the seats, the providers and the critique level.
  3. Check the price. Call estimate first. It is free, quotes the whole call for your prompt (the engines, the platform fee and the Mode's fee) and says whether a panel is likely to help.
  4. For a question where a wrong answer is expensive, choose a Mode with deeper critique.

Who can use a Mode: Anyone else can use a Mode once it is listed and certified.

Standard and Einstein

Standard Mode · QRUM:STAN and Einstein Mode · QRUM:EINS are two of Quorum's own Modes. Standard seats three engines and critiques on harder questions. Einstein seats frontier engines and critiques on every question.

The receipt names the Mode that answered by its ticker.

Build your own

You can build a Mode, keep it private, share it with a team or publish it. Saving a Mode needs an organization account. Publishing to the Marketplace uses the same organization. Make a Mode covers the path.
