Quorum with VS Code

Install Quorum in VS Code with one click and call it from Copilot agent mode.

Copilot agent mode in VS Code calls Quorum as a tool. It sends a question to a panel of models from different labs and gets back one answer plus the places the panel split.

Set up

Install in VS Code

VS Code opens and offers to install the quorum server. Install it, then sign in to Quorum and approve access. You approve once.

To add it by hand, put this in .vscode/mcp.json (workspace) or your user profile:

{
  "servers": {
    "quorum": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://www.quorum.dog/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code uses servers as the top-level key. Claude Code and Cursor use mcpServers.

Check it works

Open Copilot chat in agent mode and ask it to call list_modes. The call is free and returns the Modes you can use.

Using it

The agent has 13 tools. Ask it to call estimate first. estimate is free and reports whether a panel is likely to help on your question. Then deliberate convenes the panel, using the model QRUM:STAN, which is Standard Mode.

A connected app on your plan pays real cost, with no Mode fee. See the Connecting FAQ.

When to use it

Renames, formatting and anything with one right answer go to your usual assistant.

Use an API key instead

To bill calls to an organization, or to run without a browser sign-in, send an API key from your usage page. VS Code prompts for it on first use and masks it.

{
  "inputs": [
    { "type": "promptString", "id": "quorum-key", "description": "Quorum API key", "password": true }
  ],
  "servers": {
    "quorum": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://www.quorum.dog/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${input:quorum-key}" }
    }
  }
}

The id in inputs must match the ${input:...} reference. API keys always bill your organization's API account.
